A heartfelt thanks to my wonderful colleagues Richard Abel, Pritam Baruah, Andrea Castagnola, Pedro Fortes, Katre Luhamaa, Stefan Machura, Merike Ristikivi and Mark Tushnet for their great contributions to the rule of law section of the Encyclopedia on Sociology of Law!

I am an associate editor for this groundbreaking book project which is led by Ulrike Schultz, Håkan Hydén and Peter Scharff Smith and which is a truly global collaboration - bringing together more than 200  practitioners and  scholars who address contemporary challenges in  law and  society.

As the book’s section lead on Democracy and Sociology of Rule of Law, I have the privilege to chronicle violations of the rule of law and evaluate efforts at resistance - from Argentina and India to Post-Soviet Europe and the U.S.
